Directions
Set your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit (220 degrees C).
On a floured surface, roll out the pizza dough to a thickness of about 1/4 inch. Put the dough in a 9-inch deep-dish pizza pan that has been well-oiled. To create the crust, press the dough into the pan’s corners and up its sides.
Cornmeal should be strewn over the crust’s base.
Olive oil should be brushed on the crust.
On the bottom of the crust, scatter half of the mozzarella cheese. Then, add the pepperoni, mushrooms, onions, and bell peppers.
Combine the crushed tomatoes, basil, sugar, salt, and pepper in a separate bowl. Over the toppings, spread out this mixture.
On top, grate some more Parmesan and mozzarella cheese
Bake the pizza for 30-35 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbling and the crust is golden brown.
Before slicing and serving, take it out of the oven and let it cool for a while.
One 9-inch deep-dish pizza can be made using this recipe. Toppings may be added or subtracted as desired. Sausage, bacon, and olives are a few additional typical toppings. Enjoy your handmade pizza in the Chicago style!
