Since this Sunday afternoon, Leo Messi has been residing in Barcelona. The Argentine, who played a key role in PSG’s triumph over Clermont on Saturday night, made his first trip to Barcelona following reports of a potential return to the Catalan team.
Leo Messi needs to come back to Barcelona, and Xavi Hernandez and Joan Laporta are adamant about it. Rumors regarding his potential switch to the Catalan side have grown more persistent in recent days, especially after remarks from the president.
And right now, his return to the city is what has happened. This past Sunday, the Argentine arrived in Catalonia just a few hours after he and Neymar were key players in PSG’s 0-5 victory over Clermont.
Messi scored two of his team’s five goals and assisted on another, but his 86th-minute overhead kick that sealed the victory stood out among the other goals at the Gabriel Montpied Stadium.
Following a strong start to the Ligue 1 season, PSG coach Galtier granted the team a few days off, which Messi used to travel back to the area he views as his home. He thus made his first appearance in Barcelona since the rumors started, and Laporta claimed that the team “morally owes” him a response.
