Kwesi Zanga, a highlife performer from Ghana, claims that highlife is still Ghana’s musical identity and has underlined the importance of spreading it abroad.
Kwesi Zanga’s argument follows Shatta Wale’s state of the industry speech, in which he pushed his fellow artists to band together and define Ghana’s music as belonging to a single genre.
The Dome-Kwabenya constituency industry Highlife musician winner, however, claimed that he was disappointed Shatta Wale wasn’t able to inform music investors that Highlife was the genre for which Ghanaians were renowned.
We both know that Highlife is who we are, and I have been teaching about identity for a very long time.
I don’t know why Shatta Wale didn’t mention Highlife but I think it is a good course for all of us to come together and sell what we created,” he told Sika fm Entertainment show
